Editorial Review
The Boroughs Cafe and Wine Bar is a delightful little place that is stylishly laid out and exudes a warm and inviting ambience. It has an eclectic design combining a long marble counter top in the front, with polished timber floorboards and a courtyard setting out back complete with a sophisticated stone water feature. The sense of style is mirrored in the staff who are polished and friendly. Relax at a table at the front of the venue which offers a spot of sun and a great view of the Esplanade and the bay beyond.
The Boroughs serves three meals a day, and each menu is carefully designed with an explanation and origin of the more complicated ingredients. Dinner is the highlight and has a short, succinct menu concentrating on quality. Try the pork and chicken liver pate with warm ciabatta and apple and currant chutney for starters. Next, move onto the house made gnocchi or the seared scallops and prawns with warm roasted beetroot, orange and hazelnut salad and a lime and yoghurt dressing. The Boroughs has won many awards for its excellent wine selection, so ask the staff for some tips when ordering.
