Now in its 11th year, the Bridge to Brisbane has become one of the sunshine state's most eagerly anticipated community events raising much-needed funds for various Queensland charities. The great thing about the Bridge to Brisbane is you don't need to be Craig Mottram or Cathy Freeman to participate, as the run is a fantastic opportunity for family, friends and community groups to get together and have a blast in the beautiful outdoors! The course covers two race distances; a 10km course for the keen runners and walkers, and a 5km for those participants who feel more comfortable across a shorter distance. The run caters for runners and walkers of various levels of fitness as well as wheelchair athletes and toddlers pushed in prams. With no age limit for the 10km course, it's easy for families to hang out together and enjoy the beautiful Brisbane weather.
With over $2 million so far raised for charity, the Bridge to Brisbane is a great way to put back into the local community. Proceeds from this year's Bridge to Brisbane will go to Youngcare, an organization working to provide housing and lifestyle opportunities for young Australians who require full-time care.
And knowing how much Queenslanders love hanging outdoors, of course the fun doesn't stop once the race is over! Following the run, participants and their cheer squad of family and friends will be treated to a morning of entertainment, fun activities and great prizes at the RNA Showgrounds, home of the Ekka!
